Whether it be infamous trials or memorable moments, if the walls of North Sefton Magistrates’ Court could talk, they would certainly have a lot to say. Although this quiet pocket of Lancashire may not have been home to notorious crimes, it has been at the location of a couple of notable cases.
An early case tried within its confines was in 1947. Robert George Clement a physician and fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons from Belfast, NI, was charged with the poisoning of his fourth wife, who died from morphine poisoning.
